A team of consultants from the National Animal Control Association (NACA) will conduct a weeklong assessment of the Broward County Animal Care and Regulation agency May 5-9. NACA is recognized as a leader in the field of animal protection and care. The association was retained by the County earlier this year to review the agency's operations and make recommendations.
"We are anxious to begin work with NACA in an effort to identify ways to improve our operations and procedures," said Commissioner Ken Keechl.
The assessment will consist of a review of all operations and procedures of Animal Care and Regulation, including its policies regarding animal sheltering, adoptions, field operations and community relations.
Part of the assessment will include input from the public. Any interested party, including individuals or organizations, may submit comments or recommendations to NACA at naca@nacanet.org. Residents who wish to comment by telephone may do so by calling NACA at 913-768-1319, extension 6.
"Care of our animals is a county-wide responsibility, so we look forward to the public's valuable input and NACA's recommendations," concluded Keechl. "We have no doubt that the results of this study will be a win-win for our agency, the animals we care for and the residents of Broward County."
