Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Monday, October 27, 2008, 12:30 p.m.
Embraer, a Brazilian company with almost 40 years in the aviation industry and more than 23,000 employees worldwide, will celebrate the opening of its new full-service 55,500 square-foot. Executive Jets Service Center. The new center will be located at 276 S.W. 34th St., Fort Lauderdale at Embraer's North America headquarters.
The ribbon cutting is scheduled from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Monday, October 27, 2008. Interviews are available earlier through prior arrangement. Visuals: B-roll video of Embraer jets in the air is available. Media can take pictures of the 16-passenger Legacy 600 jet inside the facility. The Legacy 600 aircraft cruises at a speed of up to Mach 0.80 (approx. 600 mph) and has a range of 3,740 miles. It is one of the Embraer aircraft to be serviced at the new facility and is listed for $26.93 million.
Attending the ceremony are Congressman Ron Klein, State Senator Jeremy Ring, Broward County Mayor Lois Wexler, Commissioners Josephus Eggelletion, Jr., Sue Gunzburger and Ken Keechl, Airport Director Kent George, and Acting Consul General of Brazil Luis Fernando Abbott Galvão. Representing Embraer will be Luis Carlos Affonso, Executive Vice President, Executive Jets and Edson Carlos Mallaco, Vice President of Customer Support and Services, Executive Jets.
The new facility features a hangar, workshops and office space - an estimated investment of $10 million by Embraer. It will require the creation of more than 60 new jobs in Fort Lauderdale within the next five years to service the company's new line of Phenom 100, Phenom 300 and Legacy 450, Legacy 500 and Legacy 600 executive jets, www.embraerexecutivejets.com.
