The Broward County Historical Commission will host its November Brown Bag Historical Lunch Program on Thursday, November 19, beginning at noon at the Historic West Side School, 301 S.W. 13th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. The topic is "West Side School: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. The West Side School is the new home of the Broward County Historical Commission.

The program will include a discussion of land surveys and purchases, the architect, the construction company, principals and teachers. There will be discussion of the preservation of the West Side School site through the joint cooperative efforts of ArtSpace Projects, Inc., Broward County, and the City of Fort Lauderdale.

The program will be moderated by Broward County Historian Helen Landers. Former West Side School students will recount experiences of their school days and others will discuss preservation issues. There will be time for questions and comments from the audience.

Attendees should bring their own brown bag lunch to enjoy with beverages -- coffee and cold drinks -- provided by the Historical Commission.
